SC upholds HC stay on Khaleda’s 4-case proceedings
PBC news: The Supreme Court on Monday upheld a High Court order staying the trial proceedings of four cases filed against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
A virtual bench of the Appellate Division, headed by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain, passed the order after hearing appeals filed by the state.
Additionally, the apex court also asked the High Court to dispose of its rule issued in this regard.
Earlier on April 13 in 2017, a High Court bench stayed the trial proceedings of the cases. Later the government filed separate appeals against the order.
The four cases were filed against the BNP chairperson with charges of sabotage between January and March of 2015 at Jatrabari police station and Darussalam police station.
