Panchagarh journalist assaulted, case filed
PBC news: A case was filed against a local journalist of Panchagarh, Shohidul Islam Shohid, on Wednesday for assaulting New Age Panchagarh correspondent Abdur Rahim. Victim Abdur Rahim filed the case against Shohidul with the district’s Chief Judicial Magistrate Court.
According to the complaint, accused Shohid assaulted and threatened to kill Rahim at the Panchagarh Press Club at about 10:00am on October 5.
It said that the victim was tortured in the absence of the president of the Panchagarh Press Club while he went to the club to discuss about a publication.
Later, another journalist — Insun Sakreyed— rescued Rahim and he took treatment form Panchagarh Adunik Sadar Hospital.
When asked about the matter, Shohidul Islam told New Age that it was an altercation and he just pushed Rahim.
