EU imposes 4 billion in tariffs on US goods
PBC24 Desk : The United States has imposed tariffs on European products such as cheese and wine as part of a dispute over subsidies to aircraft manufacturers Boeing and Airbus. The European Union (EU) has retaliated.
European Commission Executive Vice President Valdis Drombovsky said last Monday that the EU was going to impose tariffs and other fines on a number of US exports to Europe, amounting to four billion US dollars.
The EU is imposing tariffs on the United States in protest of illegal subsidies to Boeing. In October, the World Trade Organization (WTO) approved the imposition of such tariffs. The EU’s trade ministers then agreed to impose the new tariffs via video conference.
The United States, however, imposed similar tariffs on various European products last year
