Ex skipper Badal Roy passes away
After admitting into hospital with some chronic complexity of Covid-19 , Former national football team captain Badal Roy passed away at a hospital on Sunday afternoon.
He breathed his last while undergoing treatment at Bangladesh Medical College Hospital at about 5.35pm. He was 75. Roy was suffering from liver cancer as well as a few other ailments including kidney problem.
He left behind his wife, a son, a daughter and a host of well-wishers. Badal was admitted in the ICU of Asgar Ali Hospital after he fell sick on November 5 and later Shifted to Square Hospital on November 11 as his condition deteriorated further.
Badal’s wife Madhury Roy said at that time that her husband was suffering from kidney problem. Badal was also the captain of Mohammedan Sporting Club from 1981 to 1986. Roy ran for the president’s post in BFF’s recent election, losing eventually to incumbent Kazi Salahuddin.
Just after his retirement from club Football, Roy got involved in football organisation, becoming vice-president of the Bangladesh Football Federation. He also acted as Mohammedan’s manager in various terms.
