250kg bomb rescued near air port !
Rescue team has recovered a cylinder-like bomb, weighing about 250kg beneath the earth at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Wednesday.
The huge bomb was found when the earth digging work was going on for the under-construction third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
The bomb disposal unit of the Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) was working to deactivate the bomb.
The airport sources said labourers saw a cylinder-like object some three meter beneath the earth while doing the piling work for the under-construction third terminal on Wednesday. They instantly informed the matter to the authorities concerned. Instantly, the authorities concerned informed the matter to the BAF’s bomb disposal unit. Reaching at the spot, the BAF bomb disposal unit confirmed that it was a bomb, which was weighing 250kg.
Members of the BAF bomb disposal unit said the cylinder contained live explosives. The bomb was being taken to the BAF’s Air Base at Rasulpur in Mymensingh district.
