Govt can’t avert its responsibility of border killings: Rizvi
BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Sunday commented that , The Bangladesh government cannot evade it responsibility of killings at border with India, said
“When both the Bangladesh and India’s prime ministers were busy in their virtual talks to introduce a ‘golden chapter of relationship’ on December 17 last, the body of a poor innocent youth Jahidul Islam, killed in BSF firing, was lying under the barbed-wire fence at Sreerampur frontier under Patgram upazila in Lalmonirhat district,” the BNP leader said while addressing a press conference at the party’s central office at Naya Paltan in the city.
Rizvi said: “During the post-Summit press conference, Foreign Minister Abdul Momen unashamedly remarked that ‘India is not unilaterally responsible for the border killings. Some of our dishonest businessmen go to India crossing the border illegally. They usually carry guns. BSF fire at them being sacred of the guns.”
The BNP leader also quoted Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Mazumder who earlier said, “Nothing would yield by blaming the Indian border forces. They die in BSF firing entering India by cutting the barbed-wire fence. The Bangladesh government will not take their responsibility.”
“Both the Foreign Minister and Food Minister have justified the killing of Bangladeshis instead of protesting their (BSF) heinous acts. The remarks of these two ministers are against the country’s independence and sovereignty. So, the Bangladesh government can’t deny its responsibility of border killings,” Rizvi said.
