Avijit killing verdict on February 16
The verdict on science writer-blogger Avijit Roy murder case will be delivered on February 16. Judge Mujibur Rahman of Dhaka’s Anti-Terrorism Special Tribunal on Thursday fixed the date after hearing the arguments from both sides.
Avijit Roy,40, was hacked to death and his wife Rafida Afrin Banya received injuries in a criminal attack near the TSC at Dhaka University (DU) on February 26, 2015. Police and witnesses said the couple came under attack by the miscreants at 9:30pm while having tea at a tea stall near TSC after visiting the Ekushey Book Fair.
Local people rushed them to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where Avijit died around 10:20pm. He was the son of Ajoy Roy, a former professor of physics Department at Dhaka University.
Prof Ajoy Roy filed a murder case with Shahbagh Police Station on February 27.
