Hearing on Al Jazeera’s telecast ban Today
The High Court on Tuesday fixed tomorrow to hear a writ petition seeking a ban to the broadcasting of Qatar-based television channel Al Jazeera Television in Bangladesh.
The bench of Justice Md Mozibur Rahman Miah and Justice Md Kamrul Hossain Mollah was scheduled to hear the petition in the afternoon on Tuesday.
However, the court fixed 11.00am Wednesday to hear it.
In the writ petition, secretaries to the Posts and Telecommunications, Information Technology, BTRC chairman, Inspector General of Police were made respondents.
On February 1, Al Jazeera had broadcast a report titled “All the Prime Minister’s Men.”
On Tuesday, advocate Anamul Kabir Emon filed a writ petition to the concerned section of the High Court seeking its directive to ban the broadcast of Al Jazeera in the country.
Besides, te advocate also sought another order to remove all contents of the report from all social media including Facebook and YouTube.
