Get ready to appear before people’s court: Rizvi
PBC News: BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has asked the Awami League government to be ready to appear before the people’s court.
“The people’s court is the biggest court. The chief justice of that court is the people. I want to tell the Awami League rulers, you have to appear before the people’s court, get ready,” said Rizvi while addressing human chain in front of National Press Club in Dhaka on Tuesday.
Doctors Association of Bangladesh arranged the programme protesting the repeal of former President Ziaur Rahman’s gallantry title by Jatiya Muktijuddha Council.
Rizvi said, “They are trying to cancel the title of the best son in the country to cover the news spread on Al Jazeera. If this title is canceled, you (government) will be humiliated, nothing will happen to Ziaur Rahman. Ziaur Rahman is a well-established heroic freedom fighter.”
He further said, “There are many systems in the country today. The Awami League has false system. But there is no democracy. Today we have this movement in the interest of defending democracy. Khaleda Zia, the symbol of democracy, is now under house arrest after being unjustly imprisoned on false charges.”
DAB vice president Dr. Sirajul Islam, treasurer Dr. Zahirul Islam Shakil, and senior joint secretary general Dr. Mehedi Hasan, among others, addressed the programme with its president Prof. Harun Al Rashid in the chair.
