Deputy General Manager Tahera Khondker of Biman Bangladesh Airlines said in a press release on Thursday.
“The premier will formally inaugurate the newly procured 2nd and 3rd aircraft through a videoconferencing from her official Ganabhaban residence on Sunday,” she said.
The premier has named the two new aircraft like the other new aircraft which have already been added to the Biman’s fleet.
The press release said the aircraft are the 2nd and 3rd one purchased on the basis of a G2G (government to government) agreement between Bangladesh and Canada governments.
The national flag carrier received the Dash 8-400 aircraft from De Haviland Canada, a prominent aircraft-maker of the North American country.
Biman has planned to increase the flight frequency on its domestic and short-haul international routes by adding the two Dash 8-400 aircraft to its fleet. It will help passengers to reach their destinations more conveniently. At the same time, it will be possible to provide more advanced in-flight services to passengers, said State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Md Mahbub Ali earlier.
It is learnt that the Dash 8-400 aircraft are equipped with eco-friendly and state-of-the-art facilities. The aircraft are equipped with HEPA filter technology that completely purifies the air inside the aircraft by destroying bacteria, viruses and other germs in just four minutes. The first Dash 8-400 aircraft arrived in Dhaka on November 24 last.
With the addition of the two new Dash planes, the number of Biman’s aircraft has increased to 21, including four Boeing 777-300ER, four Boeing 787-8, two Boeing 787-9, six Boeing 737 and three Dash 8-400.
