COVID-19 cases above 1,000 for third consecutive day
PBC News: Bangladesh announced on Friday saw the third consecutive day of more than 1,000 daily cases of COVID-19, with 1,066 cases, bringing the total to 5,55,222.

As many as 13 people also died from the novel coronavirus in last 24 hours till 8:00 am today, taking the total virus cases to 8,515, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Health authorities also reported 1,252 more recoveries over the preceding 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 5,09,172.
In the last 24 hours, 219 coronavirus testing laboratories across the country collected 15,782 samples and tested 16,111.
With this, a total of 42,32,139 samples were tested in the country.The infection rate is 6.62 per cent in the last 24 hours, compared to the samples tested, while the overall infection rate is 13.12 per cent.

So far, the recovery rate is 91.71 per cent and the mortality rate is 1.53 per cent.
Among 13 deaths, 12 are male and one female, the press release said, adding nine from Dhaka, three from Chattogram and one from Barishal district.
China reported first death from the novel coronavirus in Wuhan, the capital of Central China’s Hubei province, on January 11 last year.
Bangladesh reported its first coronavirus case on March 8 last year and the first death on March 18 the same year.
According to Worldometer’s COVID-19 data, the deadly virus has killed 26,43,369 people globally and infected 11,91,93,295 as of today afternoon.
