Probe report against Mamunul, 16 others on May 27
PBC News: A Dhaka court has fixed May 27 for the submission of investigation report in a case filed against 17 leaders and activists of Hefazat-e-Islam including its joint secretary general Mamunul Haque for their role in clashes in Baitul Mukarram area on March 26.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Dhiman Chandra Mondal passed the order on Tuesday after accepting ejahar in the case.
Dhaka South Jubo League leader Khandaker Arifuzzaman filed the case with Paltan Police Station on April 5.
The other accused in the case are – Hefazat’s Joint Secretary General Junaid Al Habib, Joint Secretary General Lokman Hakim, Joint Secretary General Nasir Uddin Monir, Nayeb-e Ameer Bahauddin Zakaria, Nurul Islam Jehadi, Nayeb-e Ameer and Brahmanbaria District wing president Sajedur Rahman, Habibur Rahman, Khaled Saifullah Ayubi, Jasim Uddin, Masudul Karim, Monir Hossain Qasemi, Zakaria Noman Fayezi, Faisal Ahmed, Mushtaqunnabi, Mohammad Jobayer and Mohammad Taiyab.
According to the case documents, around two to three thousand activists of Hefazat, Jamaat-e-Islami, Islami Chhatra Shibir and BNP carried out mayhem for couple of days throughout the country as part of conspiracy hatched by Mamunul Haque and Junaid Al Habib. On March 26, they gathered at the north gate of Baitul Mukarram and attacked general worshippers with firearms, sharp weapons, pieces of woods, bamboo, pipes, and brickbats as part of their conspiracy.
Hefazat leaders and activists as part of their plot, also destroyed the mural of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Brahmanbaria and vandalized the District Awami League office in Kishoreganj.
On March 26, at least 50 people, including several journalists, were injured in clashes between Muslim devotees and police in Baitul Mukarram area.
The clashes erupted when police barred people from bringing out a procession after Jum’a prayers protesting against the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
