An official at the airport said the special flight of the national airliner was cancelled as Saudi Arabia authorities didn’t give landing permission.
Earlier, the government decided to operate special flights to five countries, including four in the Middle East with high concentration of Bangladeshi expat workers from April 17.
The operation of all domestic and international passenger flights was suspended to restrict the spread of COVID-19 in the country for the duration of the ‘all-out lockdown’ that came into effect on April 14.
UNB adds: Tahera Khandaker, DGM (Public Relations)of Biman Bangladesh, said “The flight was cancelled as the Saudi authorities made a delay in giving landing permission.”
“However, the authorities concerned have made special arrangements for all the passengers at different hotels. They will fly later,” said Tahera.
