‘Millionaire’ Chhatra League leader arrested from Tongi

PBC News: A Chhatra League leader was arrested from Gazipur’s Tongi on Wednesday morning in a drug case.

Arrested Rezaul Karim, 32, is the son of Hossain Ali. He is the general secretary of Tongi Government College unit Chhatra League.

On secret information, police nabbed him from Keranirtek Bosti area at about 12:30am from his residence.

Recently, Rezaul demanded Tk 5 lakh from a businessman. Later, the victim’s wife Shilpi Akhter filed a case against the Chhatra League leader.

Gazipur metropolitan Police’s deputy commissioner Iltutmish said Rezaul Karim was accused in an extortion case filed with Tongi West police Station.

He was sent to court.
