The Finance Minister said Bangladesh signed an agreement with Serum Institute of India through Beximco Pharmaceuticals Ltd to buy 30 million Oxford vaccine. According to the agreement, the first consignment of 5 million doses of vaccine arrived in Bangladesh in January, while 2 million doses came in February. Since then Serum did not send any single vaccine to Bangladesh.
Serum was supposed to send 5 million doses of vaccine to Bangladesh every month as per a clause of the agreement, he said.
Mustafa Kamal also said it is uncertain when Bangladesh would receive the rest 23 million vaccine from Serum as per the agreement.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh has given approval to Russia’s Sputnik V and China’s Sinofarm’s vaccine to meet its emergency demands.
