Journos to boycott Health Ministry briefings until Rozina gets bail

PBC News:  After an emergency meeting, Bangladesh Secretariat Reporters’ Forum (BSRF) has decided to boycott all press conferences of the Health Ministry until the bail of Prothom Alo senior reporter Rozina Islam.The organisation’s president Tapan Bishwas made the announcement on Tuesday at the media centre of the Secretariat.

Demanding Rozina Islam’s unconditional release and punishment of the officials of the Ministry involved in harassment, the journalists will form human chain in front of Jatiya Press Club at 11am on Wednesday, the BSRF also informed.

They will announce their next course of movement after meeting with another journalist’s oraganisations. The journalists also submit memorendum to the Information Minister.

Rozina Islam was detained on Monday afternoon on charge of “stealing” government documents and taking photographs of them on her mobile phone without due permission.

Deputy Secretary of Health Services Shibbir Ahmed filed a case against her at night under the Official Secrets Act.
