Babul Akhter shifted to Feni Jail
The jail officials did not say anything about why he was shifted. However, there were allegations that he was trying to influence other arrested accused of the case staying inside the jail. He was also putting pressure on other accused not to disclose anything else about his involvement during interrogation.

On June 5, 2016, Mahmuda Khatun Mitu was brutally killed in front of her son when she went to OR Nizam Road near GEC Crossing in the port city to board her son on his school bus. She was first stabbed and then shot dead. Later, Babul Akhter filed a case against three unidentified people in connection with the murder.
In January 2020, Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) received the responsibility of investigating Mitu murder case at the court’s directive. During the investigation, Babul Akhter’s involvement was found and the PBI submitted a final report on May 12 last to the court. Earlier on May 11, Mitu murder case’s plaintiff Babul Akhter was summoned to the PBI office in Chattogram for questioning. Taking him into their custody, the PBI showed him arrested in a case filed by Mitu’s father on the following day. On the same day, he was placed on a five-day remand by a court. After the remand was over, he was produced before the court on May 17 but Babul Akhter declined to give confessional statement in his wife’s murder case. Though he agreed to submit confessional statement at the beginning, he later declined to submit it waiting as long as three hours inside the judge’s room. On the same day, the court ordered police to send him to jail. Three more accused of the case are now in Chattogram Jail.
