‘Tiktok’ Babu actively involves in trafficking Bangladeshi girls to India: Police
PBC News: Rifazul Islam Hridoy alias ‘Tiktok Babu’ who was arrested in India’s Bengaluru on charges of gangrape of a Bangladeshi girl developed a transnational women trafficking gang with the help of some criminals of the country’s south-western region and several states of India.

The network of the transnational gang is stretched out to several countries including Bangladesh, India and the UAE, said Md Shahidullah, deputy commissioner of the Tejgaon Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) while addressing a press conference on Saturday afternoon.
He said the 26-year-old Tiktok Babu lived at Maghbazar in Dhaka. His father is Abul Hossain. He used to live with his parents at Nayatola (Bou Bazar) area. Locals know him as a stalker. Babu studied up to Class VIII. Then he left school and got involved in making videos with his friends at Hatirjheel area.
One of Tiktok Babu’s neighbours said he used to stalking girls on roads. His mother kicked him away from home four months ago. There was a dacoity case filed against him in 2014 with Ramna Police Station.
The girl who was victim of sexual assault at Bengaluru in India also lived at Maghbazar area. She hails from Kishoreganj Sadar upazila. As she was born in a poor family, she could study up to Class III. She married a Kuwait expatriate of Hajiganj in Chandpur district in 2014. But, none of her father-in-law’s house accepted her. She became the victim of abuse and torture at her husband’s home. Because of it, she lived at her father’s house in Kishoreganj for five years after her marriage. Her husband also abstained from contacting her. In such a situation, she planned to go to Saudi Arabia. She lived at Hatirjheel area in Dhaka for several months. During her stay in Dhaka, the woman and her father gave a broker Tk 30,000 for going to Saudi Arabia. But the broker embezzled the money. Then the woman suddenly went missing several months ago. She has a four-year-old son who now lives in Chandpur with his grandparents.
Police said Tiktok Babu developed love affair with the girl through a social medium. Alluring her to provide handsome salary, he then trafficked the girl from Bangladesh to India through an illegal channel. Later, he sold her to a prostitution in Bengaluru.
After the viral of the gangrape video of the woman, Bangladesh police went to Tiktok Babu’s house where his parents identified him watching his video.
On Wednesday night, Hatirjheel police went to Tiktok Babu’s house and serched there. They found his JSC exam’s admit card, registration card and a national ID. Police also questioned his parents, a maternal uncle and uncles. Most of them were taken to the police station at night. Using the cellphone of his uncle Farhad Hossain, police contacted with Tiktok Babu on Whatsapp in guise on Wednesday night. When he was asked about the sexual assault, he said it was an incident of 15 to 16 days ago. They lived in Pune of India. Then Bangladesh police contacted with Indian police and informed them about the location of Tiktok Babu.
Accordingly, Bengaluru police conduct a raid and arrested four men and two women including Tiktok Babu from a hideout. They were Mohammad Baba Sheikh, Rida Babu, Sagar and Akhil. Ridoy Babu partially changed his name to Rida Babu after going to India. However, police did not disclose the names of two arrested women.
Questioning them, Bengaluru police also identified the woman who was trafficked and sold to a prostitution. Then Bengaluru police rescued her from the prostitution. The Bengaluru police have already confirmed the matter to the Bangladesh police.
