বাফেলো শহরে দেয়া হচ্ছে ভ্রাম্যমান বাংলাদেশ কনসুলেট সেবা
পিবিসি নিউজ: বাংলাদেশ কনসুলেট নিউইয়র্কের সৌজন্যে দুইদিনব্যাপী (১৯শে জুন রোজ শনিবার ও ২০শে জুন রোজ রবিবার ২০২১) বাফেলো শহরে ভ্রাম্যমান কনসুলেট সেবা প্রদান শুরু হয়েছে। প্রবাসীরা যেন কনসুলেট সুবিধা নিজ শহরে পেতে পারেন সেই জন্যই নেয়া হয়েছে এমন উদ্যোগ। এর আগেও প্রায় গত পাঁচ বছর যাবদ বাফেলো নিবাসিদের এমন সেবা দেয়া হলেও এবছরের বিষয়টি অনেকটাই আলাদা। অতি কম সময়ে দ্রুত গতিতে বেড়ে ওঠা বাংলাদেশ কমিউনিটি বাফেলো শহরে মূলত আলোড়ন সৃষ্টি করে চলছেন। প্রথম দিনেই অর্থাৎ শনিবারে প্রায় পাঁচ শতাধিক প্রবাসীকে পাসপোর্ট নবায়ন সেবা, নোভিসা রিকোয়ার্ড সেবা, দ্বৈত নাগরিকত্ব, জন্ম সনদ দেয়ার মতো গুরুত্বপূর্ণ সেবা দেয়া হয়েছে। জনস্রোত থাকায় লাইন সামলাতে একটু হিমশিম খেতে হয়েছে আয়োজকদেরকে, আশানুরূপ স্বল্প সময়ে কাজ শেষ না করতে পারায় লম্বা লাইনে দাঁড়িয়ে থাকতে হয়েছে অনেককেই। আর সেজন্য কয়েকজন প্রবাসী একটু মনোক্ষুন্য হলেও নিজ শহরে কনসুলেট সেবা পাওয়ায় আয়োজকদের আবার কৃতজ্ঞতাও জানিয়েছেন।

বাংলাদেশ সোসাইটি অফ বাফেলো নিউইয়র্ক শাখা ভ্রাম্যমান এই কনসুলেট সেবার সার্বিক সহযোগিতা করে যাচ্ছেন। সহজলভ্য কর্মসংস্থান, বাসস্থান সুবিধার কারণে যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের যেকোন শহরের তুলনায় বাংলাদেশী কমিউনিটি এই শহরে দ্রুততার সাথে বসতি স্থাপনা শুরু করেছেন। পৃথিবীর স্বর্গ নামে খ্যাত নায়াগ্রা জলপ্রপাতের এই শহরটি এখন বাংলাদেশীদের খুব চেনা একটি শহরে পরিণত হয়েছে। এই শহরে কম করে হলেও ৫০ থেকে ৬৫ হাজার বাংলাদেশীদের বসবাস।

এখানে রয়েছে দুই ডজনেরও বেশী বাংলাদেশী গ্রোসারী দোকান। বাংলাদেশী রেস্ট্রুরেন্ট, কনভেনিয়েন্ট স্টোর, ছোট ছোট অগণিত ব্যবসা প্রতিষ্ঠান এখন অনেক বাংলাদেশীর দখলে। বাড়ির দাম কম থাকায় নিউইয়র্ক শহরের অনেকেই ইতোমধ্যে বাসস্থান পরিবর্তন করে বাফেলো মুভ হয়েছেন কিংবা পরিকল্পনা করছেন।

বাফেলো শহরে বাড়ী ভাড়ার বাড়তি ঝামেলা না থাকায় প্রবাসীরা অনেকটাই স্ট্রেস ফ্রি লাইফ কিংবা টেনশন মুক্ত জীবনযাপন করেন। তাই দিন দিন বেড়ে চলছে প্রবাসী বাংলাদেশীদের আগমন , অব্যাহত থাকুক এমন প্রবাহ , গড়ে উঠুক ইসলামিক আদর্শে বাংলাদেশী ঐক্যবদ্ধ একটি কমিউনিটি।
