Tazia processions on Ashura banned
PBC News: The government has banned all kinds of processions on the occasion of Ashura considering the ongoing Covid-19 situation in the country.
However, all other necessary religious rituals were allowed to observe on the condition of maintaining proper health guidelines and social distancing.
The Shia Muslim community brings out the traditional Tazia processions on the day of Ashura (10th of Muharram) from Hussaini Dalan in Old Dhaka.
According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Religious Affairs on August 17, the restrictions imposed on all religious institutions will remain in force following the emergency notification issued on August 8, considering the current pandemic.
