2 complaints lodged against Barishal UNO
PBC News: Two separate case petitions have been filed over attack on Barishal UNO’s residence and clashes with police personnel at night of August 18.
Barishal City Corporation (BCC) panel mayor Rafiqul Islam Khokon and its employee Md Babul lodged the petitions before Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court on Sunday where the UNO has been made the main accused.
In the petitions, they brought charges–obstructed the BCC men to perform their duties, directed to fire gunshots on BCC’s employees without provocation and injured 30-40 persons due to clashes.
Some 100 more unknown people, including the on-duty ansar members of the UNO’s residence, have also been made accused in the two case petitions.
Adv Kaiyum Kahn Kaysar, lawyer of the plaintiff, said Judge Masum Billah kept the decision pending.
On August 18, the clash broke out between the supporters of the AL, BCL and members of Ansar when the former tried to attack the residence of the UNO at Sadar Upazila Complex in Barishal at night.
Police, however, arrested 21 people in connection with the cases filed over the attack on the residence of Barishal Sadar UNO till Saturday noon.
