Sudanese President wants broader ties with B’desh; seeks more investment
Assured his support, the President mentioned that South Sudan maintains a very open foreign policy and requested Bangladesh to take advantage of it, reports UNB.
He also stated that they would consider to reinforce the diplomatic relations by opening representations at both the capitals.
The President made the remarks when Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen met him in Juba, South Sudan on Saturday.
President Kiir recognized the development of Bangladesh and expressed his sincere thanks for the offer of the Foreign Minister to extend support and cooperation.
He particularly appreciated the immense contributions made by the Bangladeshi peacekeepers since their independence and different current infrastructural and social developmental activities of thepeacekeepers in different parts of South Sudan.
Dr Momen conveyed the greetings of President Md Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the people of Bangladesh to him and the people of South Sudan.
He recognized his immense contribution towards the people of South Sudan and expressed sincere appreciation for this leadership.
They discussed the total gamut of the bilateral relations and agreed to further strengthen the bilateral engagements.
The Foreign Minister mentioned the ideals and contributions of the Father of the Nation and the remarkable development of Bangladesh under the leadership Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
He offered to share the experience and knowledge of Bangladesh with South Sudan gathered from its journey towards development.
They identified agriculture, ICT, education, military cooperation, south-south cooperation, connectivity to be the sectors of priority.
The President requested to pass his sincere greetings to President Hamid and Prime Minister Hasina.
Dr Momen invited him to visit Bangladesh at a mutually convenient time.
