Govt doing harm by closing schools, colleges: Fakhrul
PBC News: BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has accused the government of doing terrible harm to future generations by shutting down educational institutions.
“All of a sudden the strict lockdown disappeared. Everything reopened, move as you like. Thousands of people are walking together, coming back, doing everything. But a single thing is not running and this is the educational institution. In other words, they (the government) are making arrangements so that the future generation of Bangladesh does not get education,” said Fakhrul while addressing at a programme at BNP chairperson’s Gulshan office in Dhaka on Monday.
Zia Parishad organized the event on the occasion of handing over medicines to the BNP-run Covid-19 help center.
The BNP secretary general said, “A plan has been made for COVID-19 in all countries of the world. Just as they have planned for vaccination, they have planned for livelihood to keep people alive and at the same time they have planned for how to provide education. We have no plans here. This is a terrible loss to the generation.”
He further said, “Who reads online? Only wealthy people can study online, which is not possible for anyone. Getting a computer, getting a mobile set and these are not available across the country also. The schools in the village are completely closed.”
“You see in newspapers’ reports that the boys are now selling balloons, selling nuts. School is closed now. They are doing this to help their parents. That is, they have already diverted,” said Fakhrul.
