Rifat murder acquitted accused Musa Bond arrested
PBC News: Musa Bond, an accused acquitted from the much-talked about Rifat Sharif murder case, was arrested by police in Barguna town on Friday night, more than two years after the gruesome murder.
Police arrested Musa Bond at a fish market in the town around 10:30pm.
Apart from Rifat murder case, there are four more cases pending against Musa Bond with Barguna Sadar Police Station, said officer-in-charge (OC) KM Tariqul Islam.
Musa Bond was closed to Nayan Bond, the prime accused, who was killed in a reported gunfight with police.
According to the police, Musa, son of Kamal Khan of Dhanshiri area under Ward No. 4 in Barguna Pourasava, is an active member of the ‘Bond Gang.’
OC Tariqul Islam said Musa went to India following the murder of Rifat. He had been hiding in there during the trial of the murder. Before the Rifat murder, four cases were lodged against Musa with Barguna Sadar Police Station for various crimes. Arrest warrants were issued against Musa in those cases a long time ago.
Although he was acquitted of Rifat murder charges, the documents related to his acquittal are yet to reach the police station, the OC said.
Arrested Musa Bond was sent to jail through a court on Saturday morning after showing arrested in Rifat murder case and four other ones, police said.
On June 26, 2019, Rifat Sharif was hacked to death in broad daylight in the district town. He was attacked near the main gate of Barguna Government College. Surveillance camera footage showed his wife Ayesha Siddique Minni apparently trying to save him.
On September 30 last year, Minni and five others were sentenced to death for killing Rifat.
Eleven juveniles were sentenced to different jail terms in the case on October 27. The court sentenced six of them to 10 years in jail, four to five years, and one to three years’ imprisonment.
