Covid positivity rate drops below 5% in eight dists
PBC News: In eight districts of the country, the infection rate of coronavirus has dropped below five percent. In 34 districts it is between five and nine percent.
Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said this in a press release on Thursday. The coronavirus infections have been reduced across the country, it added.
The first coronavirus patient was identified in the country on March 8 last year and the government declared general holiday from March 26 that year to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
Many people left Dhaka in groups at that time and went to their own districts. Research says this is why the infection has spread across the country.
According to DGHS, coronavirus positivity rate is five to nine percent in 34 districts and 10 to 19 percent in 19 districts. However, the exact opposite is the case in Panchagarh and Jhenidah districts. The two districts are in the red zone. They have an infection rate of over 20 percent, which is very risky.
Experts say there is no chance of satisfaction even if the infection is reduced. The way the people of the country are moving now, the fear is growing. Therefore, the concerned people are urged to speed up the vaccination activities.
