No final decision on vaccination for 12 to 17-yr-old yet: DGHS
PBC News: The decision to vaccinate 12 to 17-year-old has not yet been finalized, Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said.
Dr Nazmul Islam, spokesperson of DGHS, made the comment at a virtual bulletin on Sunday.
Asked whether the decision to vaccinate 12 to 17-year-old is finalized, Dr Nazmul said the decision would be taken by the Ministry of Health and DGHS with the advice of the National Advisory Committee on Immunization and others.
About mass vaccination programme he said that he has not yet received any instructions in this regard. “If there is such a plan, it will be informed.”
Dr Nazmul Islam said 12,758 people had been infected with the virus in the last seven days which is 3,758 less than the previous week. The death toll has also dropped, he added.
He said, “The infection rate for the first two days of the whole week was a little over seven percent, or six percent or more from the following days. Overall, the picture of the last 30 days of infection is in a downward trend at the moment.”
“If this rate of detection can be sustained, the efforts we make to return to normal life will accelerate,” said the DGHS spokesperson.
