আজ ৪ঠা অক্টবর ২০২১ নিউইয়র্ক সময় দুপুর ১২টা এবং বাংলাদেশ সময় রাত ১০টা নাগাদ বন্ধ করে দেয়া হয়েছিল ফেইজবুক সামাজিক যোগাযোগ মাধ্যম সাম্রাজ্যের সকল নেটওয়ার্ক। ফেইজবুক, ফেইজবুক মেসেঞ্জার, ইনস্টাগ্রাম এবং হোয়াটস এপ্স সহ সামাজিক যোগাযোগ মাধ্যমের সকল সার্ভিস।

শুধু মাত্র টেকনিক্যাল সমস্যার জন্য নয় বরং বিশ্বকে একটা অনুভূতি দেয়ার জন্য ইচ্ছাকৃত করা হয়েছিল এমন একটি কান্ড! সোশ্যাল মিডিয়া ছাড়া পৃথিবীটা অচল এমন একটা বার্তা দেয়াই ছিল এদের উদ্দেশ্য বলে অনেকেই মনে করেন।
কেননা ফ্রান্সেস হাওগান নামক সাবেক এক মহিলা ফেইজবুক সফ্টওয়ার নিরাপত্তা কর্মকর্তা কিছুদিন আগে ফেইজবুকের বিরুদ্ধে মার্কিন আদালতে মামলা করেন এবং তার অভিযোগ আমলে নিয়ে বেশ তোড়জোড় শুরু হয়ে গেছে। ফ্রান্সেস হাওগান ২০১৯ সালে ফেইজবুক নিরাপত্তা অফিসার হিসাবে কাজে যোগ দান করেন কিন্তু কাজের ফাঁকে তিনি ফেইজবুকের সকল গোপনীয় তথ্য চুরি করে ২০২১ সালের মে মাসে কোম্পানি থেকে নিজেই ইস্তফা দিয়েছিলেন।

এরপরে ২০২১ সালের আগস্ট মাসে মানুষের ব্যক্তিগত তথ্য সংক্রান্ত বিষয় নিয়ে ৮টি অভিযোগ করে যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের আদালতে মামলা করেন ফেইজবুকের বিরুদ্ধে।

এদিকে ফ্রান্সেস হাওগানের নাম উল্লেখ না করে ওয়ালস্ট্রিট জার্নাল সেপ্টেম্বর ২০২১ সালের শেষের দিকে একটি গোপন রিপোর্ট প্রকাশ করেন। সেখান থেকেই ফেইজবুক কতৃপক্ষকে বিব্রতকর অবস্থায় পড়তে হয়েছে।

অবশেষে গতকাল ৩রা অক্টবর সিক্সটি মিনিটের একটি প্রোগ্রামে ফ্রান্সেস হাওগান জনসম্মুখে এসে ফেইজবুকের বিরুদ্ধে ৮টি অভিযোগের বিস্তারিত তুলে ধরলে ৪ঠা অক্টবর ওয়ালস্ট্রিট শেয়ার মার্কেটে ফেইজবুক শেয়ারে ধ্বস নেমে আসে। শেয়ার মার্কেটে ৬ থেকে ৮ শতাংশ পরিমান মূল্য কমে যায়, ফেইজবুকের ভবিষ্যৎ চিন্তা করে বিনিয়োগকারীরা শেয়ার বিক্রির হিড়িক ফেলে দেন। মাত্র কয়েক ঘন্টার ব্যবধানে কয়েক বিলিয়ন ডলার ক্ষতির সম্মুখীন হন ফেইজবুক কতৃপক্ষ।

ফেইজবুক সম্পর্কে অভিযোগে বলা হয়েছে ফেইজবুক একটি পরিবার এবং বন্ধুদের সাথে অনলাইন যোগাযোগের মাধ্যম কিন্তু এই ফেইজবুকের মাধ্যমে বিশ্ব রাজনীতিতে নতুন মাত্রা যোগ করা হচ্ছে। ফেইজবুক ইচ্ছাকৃতভাবে লভ্যাংশ বৃদ্ধির কারণে রাজনৈতিক পোস্টগুলিকে এলগরিদমের মাধ্যমে বেশি মানুষের কাছে পৌঁছে দেন কারণ সাধারণ মানুষ যত বেশি সময় ফেইজবুক ব্যবহার করবে ততবেশি বিজ্ঞাপন তাদের দেখানো যাবে এবং ফেইজবুক কতৃকপক্ষ ততো বেশি পয়সা আয় করতে পারবেন। তাই মিথ্যা সংবাদ ছড়ানো ফেইজবুকের পয়সা আয়ের অন্যতম মাধ্যম বলে ফ্রান্সেস হাওগান দাবি করেন।

সিক্সটি মিনিটের “ফেইজবুক হুইসেল ব্লোয়ার” নামের এই পর্বটি টেলিভিশনে প্রচারিত হওয়ার পরেই মূলত ফেইজবুক কতৃপক্ষ আচমকা তাদের প্লাটফর্ম বন্ধ করে দেয়ার সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছেন। পরবর্তী সিদ্ধান্ত নেয়ার আগে পর্যন্ত ফেইজবুক সহ মেসেঞ্জার ও ইনস্টাগ্রাম বন্ধ থাকবে বলে ধারণা করা হচ্ছে।
