Govt is afraid of mass uprising: Fakhrul
PBC News: BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said the current authoritarian government is now afraid of a mass uprising. Therefore, the government is harassing the leaders and activists of the party and its affiliated organizations in various ways.
Fakhrul made the comment in a statement on Tuesday.
“Police have raided at the house of Dhaka City East unit Chhatra Dal organizing secretary Rabiul Islam last night. His elderly father and two uncles have been arrested for not finding Nayan at home,” said Fakhrul.
“The government without the support of the people has taken over the control of law enforcement and administrative apparatus to sustain itself. The independence of the judiciary has been violated.”
Mirza Fakhrul said Awami League government wants to rule and suppress the people and opposition parties including BNP by enforcing neo-Baksal. Awami League has become intoxicated to rule the country in a fascist manner, he added.
The BNP secretary general alleged that law enforcing agencies and ruling party goons are being used in all anti-humanitarian activities.
He said, “The present separatist government, which has usurped state power without a vote, is engaged in repression of BNP leaders and activists to handle their awkward situation in a terrorist manner. But the people are now preparing to take to the streets to establish democracy, politics and the right to vote in the country.”
The BNP secretary general demanded the immediate and unconditional release of Nayan’s father Akkas Sheikh, uncle Atar Ali Sheikh and Ebadat Sheikh.
