Rebel candidate attacks AL’s election rally in M’singh, 10 hurt

PBC News:  Supporters of a rebel candidate have attacked an election rally of an Awami League-backed candidate at Dhobaura upazila in Mymensingh district.

The incident took place at Baligaon Bazar at about 11:00pm on Sunday night.

Baligaon union parishad incumbent chairman and AL-backed candidate for the upcoming UP polls Shamsul Haque, former chairman freedom fighter Abdul Quadir and eight others were injured in the attack.

It was learnt that the followers of rebel candidate Harun-or-Rashid suddenly attacked the rally at night and started vandalising there, leaving 10 injured.

The injured have been given treatment at Dhobaura Upazila Health Complex.

Being informed, police went to the spot and brought the situation under control, said Dhobaura Police Station OC Abul Kalam Azad.

Legal action would be taken after receiving complaint, he added.
