Bus plying at increased fare, commuters express anger
PBC News: Bus owners started plying their vehicles at increased fare after three days’ of strike.
As the government re-fixed the fare rate at a meeting on Sunday, Bangladesh Bus-Truck Owners Association and transport owners withdrew the nationwide strike.
According to the new decision, 95 per cent of the buses and minibuses plying in the Dhaka city will not be able to raise their fare as they run on CNG.
Meanwhile, the passengers alleged that some public transports are taking extra money, though the government fixed the rate. They expressed anger over it as they are being forced to pay the extra fare.
The long distant bus fare has been re-fixed Tk 1.80 raising from Tk 1.42 per kilometer. It means each passenger will have to spend 38 paisa extra for per kilometer.
