3 shot dead in BGB firing in Thakurgaon over UP polls result
PBC News: Three people were killed in Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) firing at a polling centre in Pirganj upazila of Thakurgaon on Sunday night during clash over the result in the third phase of union parishad polls.
The deceased were Sahaboli Ahmmed, 35, Mojaharul Islam, 40, and Adiya, 20. Of them, two died on the scene while another was on way to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
On-duty village police member Sogendra Nath said BNP-backed candidate Nuruzzaman and his followers cordoned off the administration officials, including the presiding officer, inside Ghidob Goverment Primary School around 8pm.
They vandalised the car of Pirganj upazila nirbahi officer.
The attackers also attacked on policemen.
At one stage, to take the situation under control and to release the the officials, BGB men opened fire.
Pirganj Police Station OC Jahangir Hossain said, “We heard that one died on the scene and another later during the clash.”
