Abrar murder verdict reflects justice: Law Minister
“It has been proved through the verdict that rule of law exists in the country,” he said while addressing a press conference at his residence at Gulshan in the capital on Wednesday (Dec 8) afternoon.
Five other accused in the case were jailed for life.
The condemned convicts were Mehedi Hassan Rasel, Muntasir Al Jemi, Tabakhkharul Islam Tanvir, Mohammad Sadat, Mizanur Rahman, Shamsul Arefin Rafat, Md Shamem Billah, Mazedur Rahman, Hossain Mohammad Toha, Moniruzzaman Monir, Mehedi Hasan Robin, Muzahidur Rahman Muzahid, Anik Sarker, Meftahul Islam Zion, Ifti Mosharraf Shakal, Mahmud Setu, Morshed Amartya Islam, Morsheduz Zaman alias Jisan, Ehtesamul Rabbi Tanim and Mujtaba Rafid.
Of them, Jisan, Tanim and Rafid are still absconding.
On the other hand, the lifer are Muhtasim Fuad, Md Akash Hossain, Amit Shaha, Ishtiak Ahmed and Mohamad Moaj.
The Law Minister said justice was ensured through the Abrar murder case verdict. “I thank all concerned to dispose of the case within the shortest possible time,” he said.
Anisul Huq also said it has become clear that none will be able to roam freely after committing crime. The prosecution will extend all sorts of cooperation for making paper book once the documents of verdict comes to the higher court from the judicial court.
Asked whether there was any legal scopes for Khaleda Zia’s treatment abroad, the government is examining the legal scopes for the treatment of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia abroad. “We have already come close to a decision in this regard. It will be informed as soon as possible,” he said.
Responding to a question asking whether the state minister Dr Murad Hasan would be able to retain his parliamentary post after his resignation, the Law Minister said steps about it would be known after his expulsion order comes to the centre from the district. “However, I’m very unhappy over his activities. Not only an MP, but also no conscience human being can do this.”
