Mother raped before daughter in Khulna hotel, SI arrested
CRICDOT DESK : A rape case has been filed against a sub-inspector of the detective branch (DB) of police following the allegation that he raped a woman in front of her daughter entering the room of a residential hotel in Khulna city.
Khulna Sadar police arrested DB’s SI Jahangir Alam in connection with the incident.
Khulna Sadar Police Station’s officer-in-charge (OC) Hasan Al Mamun said a mother brought her ailing daughter for treatment to Khulna city from Mongla in Bagerhat district on Tuesday afternoon. They got into the Room No. 13 of Hotel Sundarbans, adjacent to the city’s Shahid Hadis Park.
At about 2:30am, Khulna Metropolitan Police’s (KMP) sub-inspector Jahangir entered the room where mother and daughter were staying. Then he allegedly raped the mother in front of her ailing daughter. Hering the screaming of the woman, the hotel manager rushed to the room. He also informed the senior officials of the detective branch of police and Khulna Sadar Police Station seeking help.
Later, police from Khulna Sadar Police Station went to the hotel and detained SI Jahangir.
OC Hasan Ali said being the plaintiff, the woman filed a rape case at Khulna Sadar Police Station at 4 o’clock at night.
On Wednesday, SI Jahangir was sent to jail through court. The woman was sent to the One Stop Crisis Centre (OCC) for medical test.
KMP’s Detective Branch’s deputy commissioner BM Nuruzzaman claimed that SI Jahangir was drunkard during the rape incident.
