Fire at Bogura plastic factory, 5 killed
PBC News: Five workers were killed in a devastating fire that broke out at a plastic factory in Bogura’s Adamdighi upazila on Tuesday.
The fire orginated at BIRS Plastic Ind. Ltd. at Santahar area at about 11:45am.
Seven fire fighting units rushed to the spot and tried to douse the blaze. Later, joined four units from Naogaon and managed to bring the fire under their control around 1:45pm after two hours of frantic efforts, said Naogaon Fire Service and Civil Defence’s deputy assistant director AKM Murshed.
They recovered five charred bodies from inside. The cause of the fire could not be known immediately, AKM Murshed said.
The deceased could not be identified yet.
Local sources said one-time plastic plates were being produced in the factory. The employees were working from this morning like other days. Suddenly, the fire broke out from a corner of the factory.
The factory owner Santahar municipality mayor Tofazzel Hossain Bhutto claimed the fire damaged assets worth around Tk 30 crore.
