Supporters are being harassed by police: Taimur
PBC News: Independent mayoral candidate in Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) election Taimur Alam Khandaker has alleged that his supporters are being harassed by sending police to their houses.
”People were threatened by sending police to their houses on Sunday night, so that they would not work for me but for the boat. My supporters are being harassed,” said Taimur while conducting election campaign at in Madanpura area of Narayanganj on Monday morning.
Taimur asked the city dwellers not pay heed in any kind of rumors and said, “Be aware and do not listen to any rumors. There will be a lot of torture; we have to move forward by preventing that torture.”
He further said, “You will check that under which contractor’s influence the city corporation runs its activities. You will find that one or another name will come out. If there is no name then tell that Taimur Alam Khandaker lied.”
Independent candidate Taimur said, “My team is united. It is clear to the people that there is a huge conflict inside Awami League; the remarks of many people prove that. They are not getting the support of their people which talk of the city now.”
Taimur said he is conducting campaign keeping everyone in his side.
“In the last 18 years, we see the failure of the municipality and civic amenities have not increased, while the holding tax has increased, Tk 1.5 lakh is being taken for water. If you want to get any clearance from the city corporation, you have to pay tax which is not available in any other city corporation.”
“City Corporation is not a business entity. It is a service organization,” he added.
