40 maunds of jatka seized in Barguna
PBC News: Members of Bangladesh Coast Guard on Monday, in a drive, seized around 40 maunds of jatka ((hilsa fry less than nine inches long) from the Bishkhali River at Patharghata upazila in Barguna district.
Acting on a tip-off, Coast Guard personnel conducted a drive at Patharghata Launch Ghat area at about 11:00am and detained seven fishermen with the hilsa fry, said Patharghata Station Coast Guard Commander Lt Harun-Ur-Rashid.
Later, a mobile court led by Patharghata executive magistrate Md Hossain Mohammad Al Mujahid fined six fishermen, out of seven, Tk 2000 each. And the seized hilsa fry were distributed among orphanages.
