Former Sylhet MP Syed Makbul Hossain dies
PBC News: Dr Syed Makbul Hossain Lechu Mia, a freedom fighter, industrialist and former Member of Parliament from Sylhet-6 constituency (Beanibazar-Golapganj), has died.
He breathed his last at 9:45pm on Wednesday at a hospital in capital Dhaka. He was 76.
His only son Tampaco Foils Factory’s managing director Syed Tanvir Hossain confirmed about his death.
Makbul Hossain was elected MP as an independent candidate for two times from Sylhet-6 (Beanibazar-Golapganj) constituency in 1986 and 2001. He also established several educational institutions.
In 2001, he was elected member of parliament defeating former Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid.
Dr Syed Makbul Hossain left behind his wife, a son, a daughter, relatives and well wishers to mourn his death.
