Omar Faruk mastermind behind Tipu murder: RAB
PBC News: Awami League leader Omar Faruk was the mastermind in the murder of Jahidul Islam Tipu, former general secretary of Motijheel Awami League, in the capital, said RAB.
Omar Faruk is the general secretary of Ward No. 10 unit of Awami League under the Dhaka City South Awami League.
Addressing a press conference at RAB Media Centre at Kawran Bazar in the city on Saturday, RAB spokesman Khandaker Al-Moin four people, including Omar Faruk, were arrested. He said Tipu was killed over establishing supremacy in Motijheel Police Station areas.
The other three arrested were Abu Saleh Sikder alias ‘Shooter’ Saleh, 38, Md Nasir Hossain alias ‘Killer Nasir’, 38 and Md Morshedul Alam alias Kailla Palash, 51.
Earlier, Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Branch (DB) police arrested Masum Md Akash from Bogura on March 26 and Arfanullah Damal on April 1 in Tipu murder case. They are now on police remand.
DB said Akash shot Tipu to death.
Jahidul Islam Tipu (54) and college student Preeti were killed in a gun attack at Amtala in North Shahjahanpur on March 24.
Later, Tipu’s wife ward councilor Farhana Islam Dolly filed a case against the unknown persons at Shahjahanpur Police Station following the murder.
