Verdict against casino brothers Enamul-Rupon Wednesday
PBC News: The verdict against old Dhaka’s two brothers Enamul Haque Enu and Rupon Bhuiyan in a money laundering case, will be delivered on Wednesday (April 6).
Judge Iqbal Hossain of Dhaka’s Special Judge’s Court wil pronounce the verdict.
The cross-examination from both sides concluded on March 16.
The state lawyer special public prosecutor Shawkat Alam has expected the highest 12 years’ imprisonment for the accused.
The chargesheet of the case was submitted before the court on January 5 last year.
Enamul, who ran casinos at Dhaka Wanderers Club, is a former vice-president of the Gendaria unit of Awami League while Rupon is joint general secretary of the same AL unit.
The other accused in the case are their three brothers Shahidul Haque Bhuiyan, Rashidul Haque Bhuiyan and Merajul Haque Bhuiyan, General Secretary of Wanderer’s Club in Motijheel Joy Gopal Sarkar and their accomplices Tuhin Munshi, Nabin Hossain Sikder, Saiful Islam and Pavel Rahman.
Merajul Haque, Rashidul and Pavel are absconding while Tuhin is on the run.
According to the case statement, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) seized Tk 2 lakh from the house of Enu’s employee Abul Kalam Azad in Dhaka’s Wari.
