Pabna woman gets life-term jail for killing Indian national
PBC News: A court in Pabna has sentenced a woman life-term imprisonment in a case involving sensational murder of Indian national Azab Lal Yadav at Ishwardi upazila in Pabna district.
At the same time, the court fined her Tk 25,000, in default, one more year’s imprisonment.
Pabna Special District and Sessions Judge Md Ahsan Tareque pronounced the verdict at about 3:30pm on Tuesday (May 10).
Convict Mosammat Nasima Akter is the daughter of Saifullah, of village Kalikapur under Ishwardi upazila. She was present on the dock during the pronouncement of the judgement. Following the delivery of the verdict, she was sent to Pabna district jail.
The case statement reads that Azab Lal Yadav was rescued in a critical condition after he drank poison-laced drink from Saifullah’s house in village Kalikapur under Ishwardi upazila on May 6, 2017. He was then rushed to Ishwardi Upazila Health Complex. As his condition deteriorated, Yadav was later shifted to Pabna General Hospital where he succumbed.
Later, being the plaintiff, Ishwardi police filed a murder case accusing Saifullah’s daughter Nasima.
Court sources said Yadav joined as refinery in-charge at an oil mill in Ishwardi on May 28, 2014. He worked there till October 5, 2016. He was sacked on October 16 of that year. He later went to India. After some days, Yadav came to Ishwardi again. After returning, Yadav started living renting a room at Saifullah’s house at village Kalikapur. During that time, Yadav developed love affair with Saifullah’s daughter Nasima.
Advocate Matiur Rahman conducted case on behalf of the accused, while APP Advocate Delwar Mahbub appeared on behalf of the state.
