No seat sharing elections, BNP leaders say
PBC News: BNP leaders on Thursday alleged that seat-sharing is being planned ahead of the 12th parliamentary elections. They said the seat sharing election will not be allowed and those who will take part in it will be resisted.
The BNP leaders made the remarks at a protest rally organized by its Dhaka city North and South units at National Press Club in the capital.
They arranged the rally to protest against the recent attacks carried out against BNP standing committee member Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, chairperson’s adviser Zainul Abedin Farroque and Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) secretary general Redwan Ahmed.
Speaking as the chief guest at the rally, BNP standing committee member Mirza Abbas said there would be no election under Awami League.
“Seat sharing elections cannot be allowed. Action will be taken simultaneously against the government and those who will go to the polls,” he said.
Mirza Abbas said, “The Prime Minister said that political activities would not be hindered. Shortly afterwards, Khandaker Mosharraf’s house and Redwan’s car were attacked. This means that none of the Awami League leaders and activists listens to the Prime Minister.”
Another member of BNP’s standing committee, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, alleged that some people from neighbor and Bangladesh government are campaigning on of whom they will offer seat for elections.
Who has given this right to them, asked Gayeshwar adding that the brokers, who are distributing seats should be caught.
Those who will fall into the trap of the government must be resisted, he said.
