Some employees involved in gold smuggling: Biman MD
PBC News: Some employees of Biman Bangladesh Airlines are involved in gold smuggling, said the national flag carrier’s managing director and chief executive officer Abu Saleh Mostafa Kamal.
He told reporters at a views exchange meeting held at Bangladesh Airlines Training Center at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Wednesday
Mostafa Kamal said there are not getting any profit from Biman Bangladesh Airlines.
About gold smuggling, Biman MD said 202 departmental cases were filed for various offenses, including gold smuggling.
“Of the cases, 178 accused got the punishment while 52 were suspended. Thirteen people were involved in gold smuggling. Apart from this, some other employees were also given various punishments, including demotion,” said Mostafa Kamal.
In reply to another question from reporters, other directors of Biman present at the meeting said that various members of the previous committee were involved in the issue of irregularities in the lease of Egypt aircraft.
“Complaint has been submitted to Anti-Corruption Commission in this regard. ACC is investigating the matter,” they said.
