Death-row convict arrested 16 yrs after killing wife
Four other accused in the case were acquitted as their charges were not proved.
After killing wife, Ujjal went into hiding in Gazipur. When his death sentenced was pronounced, he shifted him to a house in Dhaka’s Ashulia.
RAB-3 commander Lt Col Arif Mohiuddin disclosed it at a press brifing at RAB’s media centre at Karwan Bazar in Dhaka on Wednesday.
He said Ujjal Pramanik married to Alo Begum in June 2006. His father-in-law gave him Tk 30,000 as dowry. After marriage, he also wanted Tk 50,000 to them. As Alo’s father failed to pay the dowry, Ujjal and his family tortured Alo physically and mentally.
On August 1, 2006, Alo’s father was informed that his daughter was critically ill. They rushed to Ujjal’s house and found there Alo’s body lying on the ground.
