Mitu murder case: Husband Babul Akhter, 6 others chargesheeted
PBC News: Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has submitted chargesheet to court against seven accused including former Chattogram police super (SP) Babul Akhter in much-talked about Mahmuda Khanam Mitu murder case.
The chargesheet was submitted to a court in Chattogram early Tuesday (Sept 13) afternoon.
Apart from Babul Akhter, other chargesheeted accused are Kamrul Islam Sikder Musa, Ehteshamul Huq Prokash Bhola, Motaleb Mia Wasim, Anwar Hossain, Khairul Islam Kalu and Shajahan Mia.
In the morning of June 5, 2016, Mahmuda Khanam Mitu was murdered by stabbing and firing near her house when she went to put her son on board a school bus at Nizam Road under Panchlaish Police Station in Chattogram city.
In connection with the murder of wife, the then Police Headquarters’ SP Babul Akhter filed a murder case with Panclaish Police Station in the port city.
After staging various dramas including questioning under the custody of Detective Branch, Babul Akhter was relieved of from service in August of that year. Babul Akhter is now in jail.
In the final report of the chargesheet, it has been stated that Babul Akhter is the mastermind of Mitu murder which is clear as daylight. In order to keep him hidden, Babul Akhter publicised that militants might have killed Mitu. Mitu murder was led by Babul’s source Kamrul Islam Sikder Musa. Seven more killers were involved with him. Following the murder, Babul Akhter directed Musa over phone to into hiding.
Among the accused of the case, Musa and Kalu have been absconding, while Babul Akhter, Wasim, Shajahan Mia and Anwar Hossain are in jail.
Following the murder of Mitu, police couldn’t trace out Kamrul Islam Sikder Musa.
