BNP to march in all divisional cities Feb 18
PBC NEWS DESK: After observing a similar programme at the union-level across the country, BNP will now march in all divisional cities on February 18 to press home its 10-point demand, including holding the next general election under a caretaker government.
BNP Standing committee member Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain announced the fresh programme while launching a march programme of Dhaka North City of the party at the city’s Shyamoli area on Sunday.
As part of its ongoing movement for the restoration of democracy, unconditional release of Khaleda Zia, the resignation of the government, dissolution of parliament and realising the 10-point demand, he said that BNP’s all city units in all divisions would march on February 18.
In Dhaka, he said, the party’s South and North city units would bring out separate march programmes on the day.
He said that BNP’s like-minded parties and alliances that had been carrying out the simultaneous movement would observe a similar programme in all the cities on the same day.
Later, Mosharraf along with the leaders and activists of BNP’s Dhaka North City unit started marching towards Bosila from Shyamoli to mount pressure on the government to accept their 10-point demands.
Thousands of leaders and activists of BNP and its associate bodies joined the programme, carrying banners, national and party flags, festoons and portraits of the party’s top leaders.
Earlier, leaders and activists of the party’s Dhaka north and south city units observed the march programme on January 28, 31, 30 and February 1, respectively, to push for their 10-point demand.
The party also observed a march programme in all unions across the country on February 11 amid the allegations of attacks and obstruction by the ruling party activists and law enforcers.
