Govt arrest 5 million BNP activists in last 14 years: Mosharraf
PBC NEWS DESK: BNP standing committee member Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain has said their party has no interest about the nomination to the presidential post.
“We don’t want to comment on what the government is doing or not doing,” he said while addressing a press conference at the BNP Chairperson’s Gulshan office in Dhaka early Sunday (February 12, 2023) afternoon when his comment was sought on the ruling party’s nomination for the presidential election.
Mosharraf said they are least bothered about who is going to be the next president of the country as their main focus is now on the ongoing movement for realising their 10-point demand, including the restoration of the government, dissolution of parliament and holding the next polls under a caretaker government.
Criticising the government, the BNP leader said the ruling party has been announcing counter programmes with an ulterior motive to create indiscipline and chaos. This government has arrested BNP’s five million leaders and workers in the last 14 years, he alleged.
Awami League Advisory Council Member and freedom fighter Md Shahabuddin Chuppu is set to be the next President of Bangladesh as the ruling party nominated him as the party’s presidential candidate.
