ASI murder: Fugitive convict model Adhara arrested
PBC NEWS DESK: A life-term convict has been arrested in a case filed over the brutal murder of Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Humayun Kabir of Shah Ali Police Station in the capital in 2013.
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-3 arrested Fazilatun Nesa alias Ria alias Suhasini Adhara. The 29-year old had been absconding for 10 years.
She was arrested from a house at Merul Badda’s Suvastu Tower on Thursday night. She was staying there secretly, said RAB-3 commander Lt Col Arif Mohiuddin Ahmed.Ria changed her name when she became a model. The new name is Suhasini Adhara, the RAB-3 official said.
Some drugs, two mobile phone sets and a fake SSC certificate were recovered from her possession.
ASI Humayun Kabir of Shah Ali Police Station was murdered on December 14, 2013 at a house at 1050/3 Kathaltala in East Monipur in Dhaka.
He was murdered by strangulating after injecting poisonous drug into his body. Later, Humayun’s brother Bazlur Rahman filed a case with Mirpur Model Police Station.A court in Dhaka on May 30, 2017, sentenced two people to death for the murder.
The convicts are Rahima Sultana Rumi, wife of ASI Humayun, and Rafa-e-Misty, a friend of Rumi.The court also sentenced Ria alias Adhara, wife of Misty, to life term in connection with the murder.Adhara went absconding after the murder of ASI Humayun Kabir and started a new life at Fatullah in Narayanganj as a garment worker.
Then she changed her name and address in 2015 and started working at a multimedia company making a forged SSC certificate.The RAB-3 commander further said arrested Ria also got involved in the filmdom as an actress in 2016.
At one stage, she turned into Suhasini Adhara from Fazilatun Nesa alias Ria. Since then she had been staying at a house at Suvastu Tower in Merul Badda for 10 years.
