একটা সময় বিএনপি জামায়াত ছিল একে অপরের দুসময়ের সঙ্গী। মাঝখানে দ্বন্দ্বের জেরে আলাদা হলেও সব ভুলে আবারও এক হচ্ছে তারা। ২০১৮ নির্বাচনের পর থেকে বিএনপি-জামাত সম্পর্কের মধ্যে ফাটল দেখা দেয়। ১৯৯৬ নির্বাচনের পর বিএনপি চারদলীয় জোট গঠন করে এবং এই জোটের দ্বিতীয় বৃহত্তম দল হিসেবে জামাত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ হয়ে ওঠে। ছিয়ানব্বই নির্বাচনের পর থেকেই বিএনপি-জামাতের সম্পর্কের ঘনিষ্ঠতা বাড়তে থাকে।
