Hefazat leader Junaid remanded
PBC News: Arrested Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh’s Dhaka City Unit President Maulana Junaid Al Habib has been placed on a seven-day remand by a Dhaka court in a case filed over the mayhem carried out in 2013.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shahinur Rahman passed the order on Sunday.
Earlier, police produced him before the court seeking 10 days’ remand.

Hafazat -e-Islam carried out mayhem in the capital’s Shapla Chattar on 5 May 2013.
Thousands of members of Hefazat -e-Islam, a Qawmi madrasa-based Islamist organisation, clashed with law enforcers and ruling Awami League men turning Motijheel and Paltan areas into battlefields in 2013.
They set fire to hundreds of shops, vehicles and police outposts and looted stores.
