2nd consignment of 6 Metro Rail coaches reaches Mongla Port
PBC News: The Belize-flag carrying ship MV Ocean Grace, which sailed from the Port of Kobe in Japan arrived at the Mongla port on Sunday noon. Later, it anchored the Jetty No. 8 at Mongla Port.

The Mongla Port Authority said the unloading of the coaches from the ship has started at the jetty.
Earlier, in the morning of April 21, MV Ocean Grace left Kobe Port for Bangladesh with the second consignment of six coaches. With this, two consignments have reached at the Mongla Port.
Earlier, on March 31, the first consignment of six coaches reached Mongla Port. They were later brought in Dhaka by river.
The ship’s local shipping agent Ancient Steamship Company Limited general manager Md Ohiduzzaman said the Belize-flag carrying ship ‘MV Ocean Grace’ arrived at Mongla port with six coaches.
“We have already unloaded four coaches today (Sunday),” he added.
ABM Arifur Rahman, project manager of Contract Package-08 of Dhaka Mass Rapid Transit Company Limited, said 24 passenger train coaches will be imported under Metro Rail’s Line-6 Contract Package-8. Each Metro Train will have six coaches.
Japan’s Kawasaki-Mitsubishi is building 24 sets of trains for this project. The trains will have DC 1500-volt power supply. Stainless steel body trains will have vertical seats. Each air-conditioned coach will have four doors on each side.
Rear Admiral Mohammad Musa, chairman of the Mongla Port Authority, said six metro train coaches had arrived at the port for the second time. 144 more coaches on 24 ships will be unloaded from Mongla port by 2022.
